Lt Col Dempsey to be next IL Wing Commander
Col Matthew Creed, Commander of Great Lakes Region, Civil Air Patrol, today announced the selection of Lt Col
Robert (Bob) Dempsey as the Illinois Wing Commander. In making the announcement Col. Creed said he is confident Lt Col Dempsey will provide strong, insightful, and directed leadership to lead Illinois
Wing with distinction.
Col (Select) Dempsey joined Civil Air Patrol as a cadet when he was a teen. Having served both as a cadet and as an adult member of Civil Air Patrol over the years has given Dempsey insight to how to enhance every aspect of Civil Air Patrol and how to support the various factions of CAP. He most recently served as Director of Cadet Programs for Illinois Wing demonstrating genuine support for cadets, ensuring they grow in leadership carrying themselves with discipline and respect while still having fun. Dempsey has served the community in many areas including being the commander of the Palwaukee CAP Squadron, and Boy Scout Troop 235 (Mount Prospect) Scoutmaster from 2003-2013 where he again motivated youth to learn and expand their knowledge of flying, service and community service.
Dempsey and his wife, Elizabeth have two children and live in Mount Prospect. An Assumption of Command ceremony will be held during the Illinois Wing Summer Encampment in Marseilles, Illinois on 15 July 2018.
